AFTERWORLD / SUPPORT THE CREW
Help Us Keep Creating.
Every film, adventure, and experiment begins with an idea. Your support helps us take those ideas further.
Afterworld is an independent creative project run by the two of us, Maya and Angus.
From writing film essays and interviewing filmmakers to building interactive adventures and experimenting with our own productions, we do a little bit of everything.
We’re constantly learning, experimenting, and developing new ideas, often with limited resources and whatever equipment we can make work.
If you enjoy what we create and would like to support us, there are plenty of ways to get involved. Whether that’s becoming a Patreon supporter, helping us purchase equipment, backing a future adventure, or simply watching and sharing our work, every contribution matters.
Patreon and PayPal links are being prepared.

THE TOOLS BEHIND THE STORIES
Help Equip the Crew
Our Production Wishlist & Equipment Goals
Behind every Afterworld production is a collection of cameras, microphones, computers, lights, cables, and occasionally some rather improvised solutions.
We’ve learned to make the most of what we have, but certain upgrades would make a substantial difference to the quality of our work and the projects we’re able to undertake.
This wishlist covers equipment we genuinely need, from small essentials to larger investments. We favor practical, reliable, good-value tools over simply buying the newest or most expensive model.
The models below are examples. Compatible equivalents or newer upgrades may also be suitable. Smaller items may eventually be purchased directly; larger goals could be shared by several supporters.

FIRST PRIORITIES
A capable editing workstation, reliable footage backups, and clearer studio lighting would remove some of the biggest limits on what we can make.
Explore the categories below for the reason behind each need, preferred examples, priority, and current status.

Dedicated 4K Editing Workstation
Replace with a representative equipment photograph.
Dedicated 4K Editing Workstation
Our current laptop cannot edit 4K footage at all, so we are limited to 1080p. Even at 1080p, the software frequently lags, and exporting one video can take 12–24 hours. A dedicated workstation would make 4K editing possible and give us more time to create, edit, colour grade, and work on sound.
Preferred model or examples: A workstation suited to 4K editing and the production software we use.
Status: Funding details to be confirmed.

Archival and Backup Storage
Replace with a representative equipment photograph.
Archival and Backup Storage
We currently lack enough storage to preserve completed productions and original footage. After each project, we have to delete the source material to make room for the next one. Separate, reliable copies would protect our recordings and help us build a lasting production archive.
Preferred model or examples: A reliable storage system with separate copies of important material.
Status: Wishlist details to be confirmed.

High-Speed SD Cards

High-Speed SD Cards
Reliable memory cards with the right recording specifications help keep cameras rolling through shoots and field recordings.
Preferred model or examples: Compatible high-speed cards; exact models to be confirmed.
Status: Wishlist item to be added.
Adventure Filming Equipment · 5 needs

Action Camera
Replace with a representative equipment photograph.
Action Camera
A durable, compact camera would help us film outdoor adventures, moving subjects, and unpredictable situations. Recording two presenters with compatible wireless microphones is an important requirement.
Preferred model or examples: DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro, or a suitable newer or equivalent model.
Status: Funding details to be confirmed.

Compact Stabilized Camera
Replace with a representative equipment photograph.
Compact Stabilized Camera
This would complement the action camera for controlled handheld filming, walk-and-talk sequences, and smooth footage with a compact setup. We also need to record two speakers clearly.
Preferred model or examples: DJI Osmo Pocket series, such as Pocket 3, or a suitable newer model.
Status: Funding details to be confirmed.

Wireless Microphones
Replace with a representative equipment photograph.
Wireless Microphones
As two presenters, we need dependable wireless recording outdoors, with good wind protection, battery life, and compatibility with our cameras.
Preferred model or examples: DJI Mic Mini or DJI Mic 3, with two compatible transmitters and charging accessories.
Status: Wishlist details to be confirmed.

Portable Video Lights
Replace with a representative equipment photograph.
Portable Video Lights
Compact rechargeable lights would help with adventures, indoor locations, and nighttime scenes when natural light is not enough.
Preferred model or examples: Portable lights with practical mounting and flexible power options.
Status: Wishlist item to be added.

Portable Power and Batteries
Replace with a representative equipment photograph.
Portable Power and Batteries
Longer shoots call for better power solutions for cameras and recording equipment.
Preferred model or examples: Compatible V-mount batteries with USB-C power delivery, suitable D-Tap outputs, spare batteries, and accessories. Electrical compatibility will be checked before selecting products.
Status: Wishlist item to be added.
Studio Lighting · 1 need

Proper Studio Key Lights
Replace with a representative equipment photograph.
Proper Studio Key Lights
Our current lighting is improvised: one light is a cardboard box with an LED strip glued inside. A proper, adjustable key light would help us create more consistent recordings and make setup easier.
Preferred model or examples: Nanlite FC-120B, Godox ML100Bi, amaran 100x S, or a comparable or newer bi-color LED light, plus compatible diffusion, softbox, and stand.
Status: Funding and wishlist details to be confirmed.
This list can grow to include mounts, stands, cases, recording media, editing peripherals, and useful software subscriptions.
Our external wishlist is being set up. No prices or funding totals are shown until they are confirmed.

Replace with a wide photograph of an island, forest, field trip, or production in progress.
We have plenty of ideas for future adventures, games, and creative experiments. Some are simple to produce; others involve travel, equipment, materials, and production costs beyond what we can currently finance ourselves.
We’d love to give our audience a chance to help decide what happens next. Our upcoming projects page will introduce potential productions, explain the ideas behind them, and outline what each would require.
You’ll be able to vote for the projects you’d most like to see and, where appropriate, help contribute toward their budgets. Some projects will move forward only if sufficient funding is secured.
We want to explain budgets, goals, and progress clearly before any project funding opens. The project page and voting system are still being developed.

EVERY FORM OF SUPPORT MATTERS
Support Us for Free
You don’t have to spend anything to make a difference.
One of the best ways to support Afterworld doesn’t cost a thing. We’re a small independent channel, and finding new viewers can be just as valuable as having access to better equipment.
Every subscription, shared video, thoughtful comment, and recommendation helps our work reach more people. If you enjoy what we make, here are a few simple ways to help us keep going.

CLEAR GOALS, HONEST UPDATES
Where Your Support Goes
We want to be open about what it takes to run Afterworld.
Your support helps us improve equipment, maintain production tools, preserve our work, and develop new creative projects. Some contributions help with ongoing expenses such as software, hosting, and general production costs. Others may go toward specific equipment or future adventures.
Where we’re raising money for a particular item or project, we’ll explain its purpose, the funding goal, and what happens when that goal is reached.
We don’t expect every visitor to contribute financially, and we want Afterworld’s main content to remain accessible to everyone.

Questions you might have
Is financial support required?
No. Watching, sharing, and participating are valuable too.
Can I help purchase a particular piece of equipment?
Yes. Our production wishlist and equipment collections will make specific items easier to support once their links are ready.
Can I contribute toward a specific adventure?
This is planned for a future project-funding page. Contributions for specific projects are not open yet.
Do I need to buy the exact equipment listed?
Not necessarily. Compatible equivalents or better-value upgrades may work.
What happens if a project does not reach its funding goal?
We will explain the terms for each project before funding opens. Those terms will depend on the payment system used; no automatic refund arrangement is being promised here.
